What we collect, and what we do not.

Who we are

Lotwise is a trading name. Correspondence about anything on this page reaches the people who actually hold the data, and is answered by them rather than by a support queue.

What we collect

If you submit the form we store four things: the email address you typed, the kind of work you selected if you chose to say, the date you sent it, and whether you have since confirmed or asked to be removed. Alongside them sits the random token that makes your confirm and remove links work.

We also keep a short operational log of what happened and when, so we can see that signups and mail work. It identifies you only by a scrambled fingerprint of the address, never the address itself.

The question about your work is optional and defaults to unanswered. It exists so we know who is interested, not so we can tell who you are.

We do not ask for your name, your firm, a phone number or an address. We do not store your IP address. Nothing is enriched, appended or cross-referenced against anything else.

Why, and on what basis

To write to you once when there is something to see, and to answer you if you asked a question. Nothing else. No newsletter, no sequence, no sharing with anyone.

The lawful basis is your consent. Submitting the form is not enough on its own: we send a link, and nothing joins the list until you use it. If you never do, the address sits unconfirmed and is never written to.

You can withdraw at any time using the link at the bottom of anything we send, or by sending one email. Withdrawing costs you nothing and needs no explanation.

How long we keep it

Until you ask us to remove it, or until this project stops, whichever comes first. If it stops, the list is deleted rather than kept, sold or passed on.

We are not going to state a fixed retention schedule we would not keep. There is one list, it is small, and that is genuinely how it is handled.

Who else handles it

The form posts to this site rather than to a third party. No analytics or advertising company receives anything.

The site and the list run on infrastructure operated by Railway Corporation in the United States. The database lives on a Railway volume in an EU region, and Railway takes backups on Google Cloud Platform. Railway's commitments about the data it hosts are in its data processing agreement.

Sending you an email means handing your address to whoever sends it, so the confirmation and any later message go through Resend, operated by Plus Five Five, Inc. in the United States. It receives your address and the text of the message, and it is not permitted to use either for anything but delivering it.

Because those companies are American, the transfers rest on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and on certification under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. We are telling you this rather than burying it: if a US legal order reached them, European contract terms are what stands in the way, and reasonable people disagree about how much that is worth.

If you would rather not have your address leave our systems at all, write to us instead of using the form and we will reply from our own mailbox.

No one else receives the list, and it is not sold, rented or passed on. If that ever changes, this page changes first.

Your rights

You can ask what we hold, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to marcusclay@lotwise.eu and we will do it and confirm. There is no form and no process to navigate.

Unsubscribing and deleting are different things here, deliberately. Unsubscribing marks the address as removed so it is never written to again by accident. Deleting removes the record and its log entries entirely. What remains is a single log line saying a deletion happened on that day, containing nothing that identifies you. Ask for deletion and that is what you get.

Because the record is an email address and nothing else, most of these requests are answered in a sentence.

Cookies and tracking

This site sets no cookies. It runs no analytics, no advertising scripts and no tracking pixels. The typeface is served from this site rather than from a font provider, so loading a page here does not tell anybody else that you did.

That means we cannot tell you how many people read this page. We think that is the right trade for now, and if it changes this section will say so before it does.

Changes and complaints

If this page changes materially, the date at the top changes and anyone on the list is told.

If you think we have handled your data badly, tell us first, and if that does not resolve it you can complain to the Danish Data Protection Agency, Datatilsynet.
